Heritage Christian Services believes in sharing the blessings it has received with disabled people around the world. In 2001, we hosted our first retreat in Chimaltenango, Guatemala to benefit adults with disabilities.

The Guatemalan retreat has grown into an annual event, with teams of people from Heritage traveling there every November to repair and distribute wheelchairs and support activities for disabled people of all ages. Those who don't go help out by providing the prayers, donations, wheelchairs, and wheelchair parts that make the retreat possible.

In July 2005, a collaborative effort between HCS, the Rochester Rotary Club and Rotary International produced amazing results. A van was delivered to Hope Haven International in Chimaltenango to serve as a "mobile wheelchair shop". It will make regular trips to villages that were previously unreachable to distribute and refurbish wheelchairs. Service technicians will also be trained to make on-site repairs to wheelchairs that have been damaged by the rugged terrain.

The international ministries program continues to explore new ways to participate in service around the world, consistent with Heritage's mission to serve all of God's created children.
