At Heritage Christian Services, we know the responsibilities of taking care of a person with a developmental disability can be both rewarding and challenging. That's why we offer service coordination and respite services for families of a loved one with special needs.
Serving more than 600 individuals in families in the Finger Lakes and Western New York Regions, the Heritage Service Coordination Department is one of the largest in the state, but our lower caseloads allow us to maintain a higher quality of support. All of our service coordinators receive close supervision and ongoing training, exceeding the annual minimum required by the State of New York.
A service coordinator will meet with the individual at least once a month to assess their progress, and assist the family in making informed choices about funding and services. They can also assist individuals with accessing clinical services, making the transition from school to work, obtaining funding for large projects, and improving quality of life.
Heritage Christian Services offers four respite programs, all of which offer short-term care for children and adults with developmental disabilities, providing their caregivers the gift of time to devote to other areas in their lives. Families can rest assured knowing their loved one is being cared for by a trained professional staff who will support their loved one's physical, emotional and behavioral needs.
Respitewood & Respitelodge
Respitewood and Respitelodge are short-term residences staffed by caring and supportive people who are trained in CPR, first aid and specialized care for people with developmental disabilities. Stays can range from a day to a week, or even longer. That time can be spent visiting family and friends, enjoying an evening out or taking a vacation. As a guest in one of our respite homes, your loved one will be able to take part in a wide range of activities such as baseball games, picnics, movies and more.
