Case Study: Sports Conditioning

Body

Melissa Wassink was a competitive runner at Gates-Chili High School and trained in the HydroWorx 2000 pool at the Pieters Family Life Center in preparation for the Empire State Games.

“The pool was much better than I expected, I was very impressed and I could definitely feel the difference from a normal workout,” Melissa said.  “I was able to get a better workout because of the resistance of the water and the jets and my workouts in the pool took about half the amount of time my normal workout would take.”

Melissa intends to resume her work in the pool to coincide with her indoor track season.  She credits her training in the pool to the success she’s had as an athlete and recommends it as a valuable tool for others.

“You have the benefit of a more intense workout in a shorter period of time. But also, the pool takes away the pounding on your legs that would occur in a normal workout and helps with injury prevention.”
