Full-Time and Part-Time Resident Counselors and Educational Assistants

Our Direct Care Workers support individuals who have developmental disabilities, such as mental retardation and cerebral palsy, in their homes. They assist the individual daily with independent living skills including developing interpersonal relationships, planning recreational activities, cooking and cleaning.

Staff members work closely with the individual's clinicians and therapists for direction and support. As a part of training, resident counselors also learn to administer first aid, CPR and intervention techniques.

Resident counselors and Educatioanl Assistants will have the opportunity to become certified as Direct Support Professionals.

Basic Requirements of Employment

To be considered for employment as a resident counselor you must have:

• A valid driver’s license
• A high school diploma
• A commitment to supporting individuals in a manner that enhances dignity and respect
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• An ability to lift and assist in transfers of people using wheelchairs
• And the flexibility to work a rotation of evenings, overnights, and weekends

Registered Nurse

Buffalo and Rochester

Basic Responsibilities:

The RN works as part of the Nursing Team and works closely with the clinicians, therapists and support staff to provide medical support and oversight to multiple programs.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Providing holistic approach to care including physical, psycho social and spiritual needs of the individual
• Implementing the Nursing Process to meet the medical needs of the individuals they are responsible for
• Oversight and education of the staff providing the health services to the individuals we serve
• Flexible on call schedule

Qualifications:

• Qualified applicants must have an RN License
• Experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities/long term care is a plus
• Possess a valid New York State driver's License

Communications Coordinator / Copywriter

Basic Responsibilities:

Seeking an excellent copy writer responsible for agency communications including news releases, newsletters, brochures, mailers, scripts and the website.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Requires copy writing for various agency communications including news releases, collaterals including newsletters, brochures and mailers, Radio/TV scripts and the website.
• Other responsibilities include basic design and layout
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• At least three years experience in field of communications or development
• Candidates must have excellent communication skills, be energetic, personable and able to thrive in a bustling, fast paced, supportive and dynamic team environment
• Professional memberships and training are available

Experience with the Following:

• Some basic design and layout required
• Microsoft Publisher, Macromedia Contribute and Adobe Photoshop Elements

Applied Behavioral Specialist

BASIC RESPONSIBILITES:

To work with individuals with developmental disabilities assessing behavior concerns, developing effective interventions, training staff and monitoring implementation of interventions.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create support plans and staff supports to address proactive supports
• Liaison between mental health professionals and support staff
• Provide on-call support to direct support staff

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling (Psychology Preferred)
• One year of experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
• Good communication and presentation skills a must!

Physical Therapy Assistant

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides Physical Therapy services to individuals by assisting in the assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation and communication
• Functions under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
• Adheres to applicable principles and practices of physical therapy, innovative care policies and procedures and state regulations
• Present trainings to staff and follow fun exercise plans

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiar with adaptive equipment, exercise and range of motion
• Associates Degree in Physical Therapy
• Valid NYS License/Certificate
• Travel between agency locations required
• Long Term Care Experience a plus
