Basic/Beginner Quilting

This course is a hands on basic quilting class for the beginner, no knowledge is necessary. You will learn pressing, cutting, machine piecing, layering, and binding. At the completion of this class, you will have created a quilt 40” X 40”. You will need to bring your own sewing machine and a supply list will be available upon registration.

Fee: $40.00 plus the cost of supplies that you will bring with you.
Learn to Play the Mountain Dulcimer

Learn to play a beautiful musical instrument! The Mountain Dulcimer is a string instrument that is played held across one’s lap. We will begin with a brief history of the instrument and move quickly on to learning a beginning strumming technique and our first song. Class will include the option to learn to read simple Dulcimer tablature, as well as other ways to learn, along with several songs. No musical background/experience necessary.

Creativity for Caregivers–Relax and Rejuvenate
Celebrate yourself and the warmth of the season by encouraging your inner artist to come out and play. The Creative Arts Therapists at the Pieters Family Life Center invite you to spend two separate Saturday mornings exploring and enjoying art, dance, music and massage. Discover how creativity can relax and rejuvenate your body, mind and spirit. No experience is necessary.

OneStroke Painting

OneStroke is a method of painting with no tracing or shading. Use your imagination and start painting with craft acrylic paint. No experience is necessary. Learn fun new techniques on different surfaces. All materials are supplied and participants should wear old clothes.
Wednesday, June 11 – Using the OneStroke method of painting strawberries, flowers and leaves you will complete a beautiful frosted plate. This is both a beginner class as well as a class for the OneStroke painter wanting to practice or learn something new.
Wednesday, June 25 – Using the OneStroke method of painting and acrylic paint we will be decorating a wooden birdhouse with rose buds, wisteria and leaves.
Wednesday, July 23 – Using the OneStroke method of painting we will be decorating a clay pot with sunflowers and leaves. This project can be used as a flowerpot or a decorative pencil holder.
Wednesday, August 6 – Decorate a small oval mirror with daisies and leaves.
Wednesday, August 20 – Decorating a wooden plaque is always wonderful; we will be adding a full rose, rosebuds and leaves to this plaque.

Computer Security Basics

What is a virus? What is spyware? What is the difference? We will discuss the differences and what they can do to your computer. You will also receive a list of various anti-virus-spyware programs. Lap- top optional.
