As part of Heritage's mission to look after the spiritual well-being of those we support, the Spiritual Care team ensures that there are activities of all kinds that provide opportunities for spiritual growth.

Devotional times provide the opportunity for prayer and reflection that is important to spiritual growth. Residents in Heritage Christian homes set aside time on a daily or weekly basis for spiritual reflection. Depending on the needs and desires of participants, these programs can include music, prayer, Bible study, and often a related activity. Activities could be a service project, stretching to Christian music, or an appropriate craft. Devotions also provide an opportunity for individuals to develop their leadership skills as they take turns running their home's devotion with as much or as little staff support as they need. This time of spiritual reflection empowers people to pursue the plans God has for them.

Heritage offers a wide variety of retreats for the people we serve. Retreat topics are often drawn from conversations with the individuals participating. For example, a mountain climbing retreat centered around the theme "We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." Other popular retreats include one for seniors that celebrates age and wisdom, and community services retreats for day program participants.

At various times throughout the year, the Spiritual Care team puts on coffee house socials, hosted by local churches. A live band provides contemporary Christian music for church members and people from Heritage homes to enjoy while they share fellowship with each other. The coffee houses also provide a place for people to share their musical talents. When the band takes a break, guests can take a turn at the microphone singing or playing a musical instrument.

Heritage Christian Services encourages people in our homes to actively participate in a wide variety of faith communities. These communities provide a place for spiritual growth and expression, lasting friendships and an opportunity to share gifts, talents and abilities. As members of their church or synagogue, they enjoy serving as ushers, greeters, Sunday school helpers, or as part of their community's hospitality department.
Some of these faith communities also host monthly fellowship groups for sharing friendship, singing, snacks, and Bible study.
