Our valued team of direct support professionals is imperative to the growth and development of the people we support. By assisting individuals in taking pride in their homes, appearance, and own abilities, our direct support professionals serve as a vital link in helping the people that we serve lead happy and productive lives.
Through team support and training, our direct support professionals have the unique opportunity to directly enrich the lives of the men and women in our homes and programs. Direct support professionals not only take part in home and community activities but also work closely with each individual’s speech pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, music and art therapists, nurse, behavior specialist and dietitian to ensure complete support.
Direct support staff at Heritage Christian support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in leading thriving, happy lives. They assist people daily with independent living skills including developing interpersonal relationships, support with personal care, planning recreational activities, cooking and cleaning; things you do every day.
As a part of training, direct support staff also learn to administer medications, first aid, CPR and intervention techniques.
Resident counselors and educational assistants will have the opportunity to become certified as Direct Support Professionals through the College of Direct Support.
